I think it’s really mean that some people are lacking in any sympathy for Whitney Houston’s death simply because she was a drug addict. Since when did an addiction become any less of an illness? Her death draws parallels with the late Amy Winehouse and just goes to show that more needs to be done to rehabilitate addicts and to change people’s ignorant perceptions of them.
Whitney Houston was a legend, one of the greatest voices that maybe ever lived, and society today has conditioned people into being the bitter human beings that they are, people who cannot hold sympathy at the news of someone’s death, but choose to highlight their vices instead. These are the same pathetic human beings who laughed at her performance on the X Factor and who never seem to have a nice word to say about anyone because they are jealous of success. Why are people so quick to judge others and so quick to applaud their falls?
I hope Whitney rests in peace and her family are comforted by the knowledge that she was a woman who touched many people with her beautiful voice. Let’s remember her for what she was made famous for, not what the media stole from her private life.

Norwegian author Stig Sæterbakken recently took his own life. Apart from a couple essays, I’ve never read anything he’s written. Judging by the literati’s response to his death, that was probably an oversight on my part. It feels vaguely shameful to discover an author because of their death:…
Totally relevant to my postmodernism module this year. Yes please tumblr helping me out with my studies.
DIY Heart Cut Out Dress | Stars For Streetlights
I adore cut outs. I’ve been seeing cut out dresses for so long but never been brave enough to attempt to cut out my own (previous attempts at altering clothes have been… disastrous!) But this is a great tutorial on how to do it properly. And I love that you could wear this plain (if you’re willing to show off some skin!) or with different shirts underneath. Or you could even try doing the cutout on the back of the shirt, or even try a circle, teardrop or star shape!
Gimme gimme. I really want to get into DIY stuff. Fun ways to spend my evenings.
I’ve been trying to quit smoking for a while. I’ve been smoking since I was like 13 which is pretty dark… that’s nearly 9 years… I’ve managed to cut down significantly - I’ve told myself I’m not allowed to smoke during daylight hours…obviously this will get harder towards summer but I’ll hopefully be close to not needing anything by then. Most days I don’t need one at all but as I’m in my final year of uni, there are days when I’m just like AARRRRRGGGGHHHH and a cigarette really does the trick. Mainly because I get serious niccy-rush which helps me forget about the MOUNTAINS of work I have got ahead of me.
This video makes me want to smoke so hard. I find smoking quite sexy anyway, so putting a whole bunch of models in a video and making them smoke? Wow. I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly aroused.
